Iron Man Villain - Mandarin
One of the most cunning and deadliest among the villains to have appeared in the Iron Man comics or in the whole "Marvel Comics" world for that matter, the Mandarin first made his presence known to the world in 1964 in the February issue of the "Tales of Suspense". This Iron Man adversary has an alter ego (though uncertain), which is mostly referred to as Khan.
With the blood of the great Genghis Khan flowing in his veins through his paternal side, both of Mandarin's father and mother belonged to the Chinese and English nobility.
Orphaned at an infant stage, Mandarin was brought up by a paternal aunt whose hostile stance towards all worldly matters got thoroughly siphoned into him as well. A genius in the field of Science and Technology, Mandarin completed his academic career and quickly rose through the bureaucratic ranks of the Chinese Govt. to become an influential and powerful administrator.
However, the Revolution resulted in the loss of all his riches and thus to regain his supremacy, he ventured into the unexplored realms of the "Valley of Spirits". There, he stumbled upon the remains of an alien invasion from the planet Maklu-4. He spent the subsequent years mastering the knowledge of the scientific discipline of the planet and consequently gained immense power, whereupon he launched his campaign to conquer the world. This led to his conflict with Iron Man.
Chief among Mandarin's strengths and skills is his physical fitness due to his expertise as an athlete. Mandarin is also perhaps the most gifted and adept Martial Artist. His skills in Martial Arts can even enable Mandarin to survive without food and water for long time by the application of the ancient art of Chi. However, the deadliest weapon in his arsenal are the "Ten Rings" which he wears on the fingers of his both hands.
The origin of these fabled rings lie in the secret chambers of the Maklu-4 spacecraft and its powers are unexplainable by modern day science. Mandarin however has been capable of unveiling its mysteries and has then applied his own erudition so that now the power of the ring responds to his mental commands and yields to them. Mandarin is also known by a number of pseudonyms such as Gene Khan, Zhang Tong and Tem Borjigin.
